PHILIP MUNOZ - SURFACE
'My work is concerned with the notion of glamour and its role in female social identity. I am interested in the idea of beauty through personalised looks adorned by so many women today. Often seductive and always demanding of attention, one is drawn in, yet inevitably kept emotionally and physically at a distance. In particular, the temporary and fragile nature of the make-up often used to conjure up such effects forces one to play the role of voyeur, never fully engaging with the illusion.'
DotsToLines: Individualised
NR Project hosts Individualised, featuring internationally acclaimed tattoo artist, Chaim Machlev (also known as DotsToLines). Highlights include a series of metallic prints by Machlev and photographer Ben Hopper of Machlev's Blackwork tattoos. Previously exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, the prints will be accompanied by tattoo-stencil collages created by Machlev and additional photographs of his tattoos taken by Erik Weiss.
SCARS
NR Project is excited to announce Scars, a charity exhibition of 25 artworks by Jorge Becerra dealing with the threat of international terrorism in the 21 st century. Proceeds will go to individuals affected by recent terrorist attacks. The exhibition will open with a reception on Saturday, April 14th and run through May 24th.

NR Project hosts Paul Goodwin, Hanumantra, and Y4SHK4 for (Echoes), an innovative installation exploring how our conceptions of the past, present, and future relate and co-depend. After painting the entire studio black, Goodwin and Hanumantra will create a series of murals stylistically inspired by their tattoo practices. DARIO GRASSO: UNCOMFORTABLE GUEST
Uncomfortable Guest is a solo exhibition of works visualizing 21st century’s effect on in inhabitant’s emotions. As if their fears showed themselves physically, Grasso’s subjects express distress and chaos though a painterly style, injuries, and frightening settings. Using the figure as his primary means of exploration into these themes, Grasso hopes his works provide an opportunity to practice confronting our more vulnerable emotions.
